Rustic Oregon Barn Wedding
This day was special to me for a few reasons. One, because I got to go stay in Seaside, OR where we used to live, with my husband and kid for a couple days, and two, everything about this day felt very intentional.
Allyson got ready with her bridesmaids at her dad and stepmom’s house that overlooked the bay. She had the whole setup-bagels, wine, snacks, and plenty of laughs with her bridesmaids. Everyone lounged around and talked while they took turns getting their hair and makeup done by Vanessa, who is wildly talented by the way! I played with their dresses, shoes, jewelry, and invitations while Vanessa worked her magic.
Soon everyone was ready and we took a few pictures together, then headed to the Clatsop County Fairgrounds for the main event. We had a little rain scare, but luckily everything cleared up just in time.
The sweetest thing to me on wedding days is getting to watch everyone’s emotions as two people seal their hearts together. I love that my job allows me to see things like that, and my heart started melting seeing how happy everyone was as they were taking their seats for the ceremony. Clay greeted people with the sincerest smiles and warmth as he walked to his place, waiting to see his bride.
The ceremony was so special. Allyson honored her late mother by having her photo walked down the aisle, and my heart melted even more. I loved seeing Clay’s expression as he watched Allyson walk towards him, arm in arm with her dad.
Soon they were officially married, and the happiest feeling filled the air. Their friends and family hugged and kissed them, and the joy on their faces was easy to spot.
After taking photos with the wedding party in a cute little grove of trees, I took Allyson and Clay aside so they could have a few moments together. They cuddled in the very same barn that Allyson had been in as a young girl with her horses for the county fair, and then they wandered up a sunny hill before greeting their guests.
Their reception was a party for sure. After eating some AMAZING food, toasts were given-which had everyone laughing and in tears-they partied on the dance floor for several hours. It was the funnest time!! Then they cut cake, did a bouquet and garter toss, and danced some more.
As the sun started slipping behind the trees, I took Allyson aside for a few more photos. She looked absolutely gorgeous, and with the sunset in the background, it was the perfect ending to the sweetest day.
I’m so happy for you Allyson and Clay. I loved being a part of your day.
